John M. Griffin ('66)
Griffin was a three-sport athlete at Villa Madonna, as he was a baseball and men's basketball standout and also ran cross country as he earned 10 total varsity letters. In 1964, he ended the season with a .378 batting average and eight total stolen bases. In 1965 he was named captain if the first-ever KIAC Championship team. Throughout his four years at Villa Madonna he was a four-year starter and a two-time captain. Griffin received the Most Valuable Player award for his dedication to the team. Griffin was a member of first-ever conference championship game in the College's history. He was the MVP of the basketball team his junior year and won the Brienich Award his senior season. Griffin was Who's Who in American his senior year, which recognizes athletes that stand out on the field/court and in the classroom.
