Joe Roesel ('65)

Roesel was a men's basketball standout from 1960-64 for Villa Madonna. His junior year, he led the team in field-goal and free-throw percentages at .490 and .780 respectively. He was a winner of the "Zip Award", which is presented to the athlete for demonstrating the most hustle and spirit. He was the captain of the team his senior season, the second leading scorer, the co-MVP, and the winner of the Bob Breinich Award. Being the lone senior on his team his final year, he led the team to a 13-13 record, after coming off only a nine-win season the previous year. He was a tri-athlete, playing men's basketball, tennis, and cross country. Roesel also was the Student Council President, a member of the Accounting Society, and received the Outstanding Student Achievement Award.
