Frank Emmerich (‘64)

From 1960-63, Frank Emmerich was one of the leaders on the Villa Madonna Basketball Team. Emmerich led the team in both scoring and rebounding as a junior and senior. At the time of his induction, he ranked third in school history with 400 career free throws made. After only three seasons he finished his career with 1,252 points and 645 rebounds.

Emmerich's best year came during the 1961-62 season when he and current Hall of Fame member Dan Tieman led Villa Madonna to the KIAC Tournament Championship with a 71-61 victory over Transylvania University. Emmerich was named to the All-Tournament Team and finished the season averaging 16.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

As a senior, he was named the team's Most Valuable Player while leading the team in both scoring and rebounding. Against Union College on February 1, 1963, Emmerich scored a then-career high 31 points only to surpass that mark the very next game when he scored 33 points in front of nearly 4,000 fans against third-ranked Tennessee State. That season, he was an unanimous Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) All-Star averaging 19.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
