Charley Wolf

From 1954-60, Charley Wolf guided Villa Madonna's Men's Basketball Team to a record of 81 wins and 67 losses over six seasons. During his time as head coach, he led the Thomas More Rebels, now Saints, to two 19 win seasons in 1957 and 1960. At the time, 19 wins was a school record, standing until the 1980-81 season when current Hall of Fame member Jim Connor led Thomas More to a record of 21-13.

In 1959, Wolf's team won the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Championship, advancing to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) tournament in Kansas City, Missouri. It was Wolf's success at Villa Madonna that led to his appointment that year as head coach of the Cincinnati Royals of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

With the Royals, Wolf inherited current Thomas More Athletic Hall of Fame Member Larry Staverman, his greatest Villa Madonna player, and drafted former University of Cincinnati player Oscar Robertson. After three years with the Royals, Wolf accepted an opportunity with the Detroit Pistons where he coached for three seasons before returning home to Northern Kentucky.
