Softball Sweeps Trinity in Saturday Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University softball team swept Trinity International in their home series opener on Saturday afternoon (February 18th) with 16-1 and 10-0 victories. The Saints move to 4-0 on the season. 


Game 1: Thomas More 16-1

• In the top of the first Trinity scores one run to take the early 1-0 lead.
• Sophomore Karys Black (Burlington, Ky. / Boone County) got the Saints going on the top of the first inning with a single to score senior Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mercy McAuley) to tie the game at 1.
• Junior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky. / Williamstown) takes a pitch deep over the wall for a three run homer. Making the score 4-1 Thomas More.
• Senior Kaylee Beal (Bright, Ind. / East Central) kept the first inning rally going with a single to bring home first year Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio / Taylor) to make it a 5-1 ball game.
• In the third inning, Kaylee Beal hits a two RBI single to stretch the Thomas More lead to 6 runs.
• Karys Black drives a pitch over the outfield wall for 3 more Thomas More runs. Making the score 10-1.
• Junior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio / Oak Hills) hits a 2 RBI double to cap off a big third inning for the Saints. Making the score 12-1.
• Junior Tori Madden (Anderson, Ohio / Anderson) hits a 2 run homer to stretch the Thomas More lead to 13 runs in the 4th inning.
• Graduate Maclai Branson hits an RBI triple to score Hailey McAdoo, then comes around to score on a wild pitch to make it a 16-1 ball game.

Game 2: Thomas More 10-0

• Karys black got the Saints going in the first inning with a sacrifice fly to bring home Maclai Branson and giving the Saints a 1-0 lead.
• In the third inning, Maclai Branson doubles to bring home Kaylee Beal to make it 2-0.
• Karys Black continues the third inning rally with a 2 RBI single to make it a 4-0 game.
• Sophia Thomas hits a sacrifice fly to bring home Karys Black and making the score 5-0 after 3 innings.
• In the 4th inning, Karys Black doubles to bring home Kaylee Beal making it 6-0.
• Delaney Kemper extends the Saints lead with a 2 RBI double to make it 8-0.
• Sophia Thoma brings home Delaney Kemper with a single then comes around to score on a throwing error to make it 10-0.

Game 1:

• Karys Black went 2-3 with 4 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a HR.
• Delaney Kemper went 1-4 with 3 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a HR.
• Maclai Branson went 2-4 with an RBI, 2 runs scored and a triple.
• Hailey McAdoo went 2-4 with 2 runs scored.
• Sophia Thoma went 2-3 with 2 runs scored.
• Joesie Wefer went 1-3 with 2 RBIs.
• Kaylee Beal went 2-2 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Game 2:

•  Karys Black went 2-2 with 2 runs scored, 4 RBIs and a double.
• Maclai Branson went 1-3 with an RBI and a double
• Hailey McAdoo went 2-3 with 2 runs scored.
• Delaney Kemper went 1-1 with 2 RBIs and a double.
• Sophia Thomas went 1-1 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
• Kaylee Beal went 1-1 with 2 runs scored.

Game 1:

• Senior Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio / Eaton) pitched 4.0 innings, allowing 0 earned runs, 2 hits and striking out 8. She earned the win.
• Junior Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio / Wayne) pitched 1.0 innings, allowing no runs, no hits and striking out 2 batters.

Game 2:

• Karys Black pitched 4 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 3. She earned the win.
• Cassidy King pitched 1.0 innings, allowing 1 hit, no runs and a strikout.

The Saints return to action next Saturday (February 25th) on Thomas More Field against Trinity Christian in a double header beginning at 2:00 pm ET.
