Softball Splits with Ursuline

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team split with Ursuline on Saturday (April 25), winning 2-1 in game one and falling 5-2 in game two. The Saints overall record is now 20-28 and 7-15 in conference.

How they scored
Game one: Thomas More won 2-1
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, senior Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) scored on a throwing error made by the short stop to make it a 1-0 game. Sophomore Brooklyn Couch (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) hit a sac fly to center field to send in sophomore Haylee Palmer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./Lawrenceburg) to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • Ursuline scored one run in the top of the seventh (2-1).
Game two: Ursuline won 5-2
  • Ursuline scored two runs in the top of the first inning (0-2).
  • In the bottom of the second, Brooklyn Couch hit her first home run of the season over the left field fence to put the Saints within one (1-2).
  • Ursuline scored two runs in the third and one run in the fifth (1-5).
  • First year Alisha Fox (Mason, Ohio/Mason) doubled to right field to score Ashtyn Elbe in the bottom of the sixth (2-5).

Game one: Game two:
  • Brooklyn Couch was 2-3 with one home run, one RBI, and scored one run.
  • Alisha Fox went 1-2 with one double and one RBI.

Game one:
  • Alisha Fox pitched 7.0 innings, allowing one earned run off five hits and struck out two.
Game two:
  • Junior Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing four earned runs off five hits and struck out one.
  • Sophomore Avery Gottlieb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 4.0 innings, allowing one earned run off six hits and struck out one.
