Box Score (WASHINGTON, Pa.) – The Thomas More College baseball team fell, 11-4, to Washington & Jefferson College today (Sunday, May 8, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) single nine-inning game at Ross Memorial Park in Washington, Pennsylvania.
Thomas More ends the regular season at 26-9 overall and 20-4 in the PAC, while W&J ends the regular season at 24-15 overall and 16-8 in the PAC.
W&J scored two runs in the first, one in the second, two in the fourth, one in the sixth, one in the seventh and four in the eighth, while holding the Saints to two runs in the first, one in the fourth and one in the sixth for the 11-4 victory.
Two Saints had multiple hits in the game as freshman designated hitter Jacob Whitford (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) was two-for-four with a run scored and sophomore third baseman Bailey Abbatiello (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) was two-for-three with a run batted-in.
Sophomore pitcher Brandon Eliadis (Lawrenceburg, Ky./Anderson County) pitched the first three innings and gave up three runs (all earned) on seven hits. Sophomore pitcher Jayson Essell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) suffered the loss as he pitched two innings of relief and gave up two runs (both earned) on four hits and struck out one.
Thomas More won the PAC regular season and has earned the hosting rights for the PAC Championship Tournament, which it will host May 12-14 at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
