Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College baseball team fell, 7-6, to Thiel College in 10 innings today (Sunday, April 3, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) single nine-inning game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in the PAC. With the win, the Tomcats improve to 12-6 overall and 1-2 in the PAC.
Thiel scored one run in the first, one in the fourth, three in the seventh, one in the eighth and one in the 10th, while holding Thomas More to two runs in the second, one in the eighth and three in the ninth for the 7-6 extra inning win.
The Saints were led at the plate by junior right fielder Ben Kenning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder), who was two-for-three with a home run, a run scored and three runs batted-in. Three other Saints had multiple hits as junior centerfielder Casey Metzer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was two-for-four with a run scored, freshman catcher Sam Hauer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-five with a run scored and freshman designated hitter Sean Lawrence (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) was two-for-five with a run scored.
Sophomore pitcher Brandon Eliadis (Lawrenceburg, Ky./Anderson County) had a no-decision as he pitched six innings and gave up two runs (both earned) on seven hits and strike out one. Junior pitcher Ken Ruberg (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) suffered the loss as he pitched one inning and gave up one run (unearned) on two hits.
The Saints return to action tomorrow when they host Wilmington College in a non-conference game at 4 p.m. at Thomas More Field.
