Meg Pierani Sets Program Career Goals Record, Saints Fall to Lewis

Box Score (Romeoville, IL) - The Thomas More University Women's Lacrosse team traveled to face Lewis on Sunday (February, 23rd). The Saints fell to the Flyers by a final score of 19 to 4. Thomas More drops to an overall record of 0-3 on the season. Junior Meg Pierani (Lawrenceburg, IN / Mercy McAuley) scored her 84th career goal with 6:38 to go in the second quarter. That goal set a new program record for goals in a career.

• Lewis scored the games first 12 goals to take the lead as we head into the second quarter.
• Meg Pierani scored the first Saint goal of the day off an assist from senior Gracey Robinson (Lebanon, OH / Lebanon). With this goal, Pierani is the new TMU career goal record holder.
• Sophomore Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) followed with a goal of her own to make it a 12-2 game with 3:50 to go in the half.
• Lewis added a goal right before half to lead 13 to 2.
• Lewis scored four goals in the third quarter to extend their lead to 15.
• Lewis opened the fourth with another goal to make it 18 to 2.
• Meg Pierani records her second goal of the day with 5:22 to go.
• Lewis added another goal to make it 19 to 3.
• Anna Wells scores her second goal of the day with 52 seconds to go in the game to make it a 19 to 4 final.

 

• Meg Pierani scored two goals and tallied a ground ball and caused turnover on the day.
• Anna Wells tallied 2 goals to go with 3 draw controls in the match.
• Senior Eva Kinwell (Arnhem, Netherlands / Beekdal Lyceum) recorded team highs in ground balls with 3 and caused turnovers with 2.

 

The Saints will return to action on Friday (Feb 28) when they host McKendree at Republic Bank Field. That match is set to begin at 4:00 PM.
