Saints dominate Storm on Thursday night

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) – The Thomas More University women's lacrosse team dominated in Thursday's (April 16) game over Lake Erie, finishing the game with a score of 24-7. The Saints move to 3-12 on the season and 2-5 on the season.
 
How they scored
  • Lake Erie scored first before freshman Payton Davis (Springboro, OH / Springboro) scored on man-down at the 12:32 mark of the first quarter.
  • The Storm took a 3-1 lead before Thomas More scored six unanswered. Junior Alex Nunn (Loveland, OH / Loveland) had three goals in that stretch along with two from sophomore Brynn Halbeisen (Cincinnati, OH / Walnut Hills). Senior Meg Pierani (Lawrenceburg, IN / Mercy McAuley) scored as well. Meg Pierani had two assists, sophomore Elina Emmons (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield) had two assists and Payton Davis had an assist. As the Saints ended the first period with 7-3.
  • Lake Erie opened the second quarter with a goal before Alex Nunn connected with junior Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) for a goal before Elina Emmons connected with Payton Davis for another goal.
  • Anna Wells started a ten-goal run for the Saints by capitalizing on a man-up scenario. Elina Emmons and Alex Nunn both had a man-up goal before freshman Lali Ramirez (Chula Vista, CA / Castle Park) ended the first half with a goal to make it 13-5.
  • Alex Nunn had another man-up opportunity to start the second half with an assist from Meg Pierani. Meg Pierani then got the assist on Anna Wells goal less than thirty seconds later before she scored her own goal just over a minute later.
  • Payton Davis had back to back goals within a minute and a half before Meg Pierani scored at the 6:02 mark. Lake Erie had a goal with three and a half minutes before the end of the quarter.
  • Lali Ramirez scored the Saints' 20th goal of the night at the 14:06 mark. Anna Wells had an assist from Alex Nunn before Alex Nunn scored a goal unassisted at the 9:50 mark.
  • Brynn Halbeisen had an assist from sophomore Jadyn Carle (Mercy McAuley) before sophomore Lauren Ferrier (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) had the final goal for Thomas More.
 
Notables
  • Alex Nunn led the Saints offense with six goals and three assists while taking 10 shots. She also had 10 draw controls and 8 ground balls. Her sixth goal of the night earned her 150th career point and then got her 300th career draw control just minutes later.
  • Payton Davis had four goals on four shots and had an assist.
  • Anna Wells had four goals on 10 shots and caused three turnovers. She also won four draw controls.
  • Meg Pierani had three goals and five assists. She had 8 shots and picked up 8 ground balls.
  • Elina Emmons had three assists and a goal while taking nine shots. She won 7 draw controls.
  • Brynn Halbeisen had three goals and Lali Ramierz had two goals and an assist.
