Box Score 2 (KISSIMMEE, Fla.) – The Thomas More College softball team dropped two games today (Friday, March 11, 2016) on the final day of the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida. The Saints fell 6-5 to Messiah College and 4-1 to Husson College.
The Saints end their spring break trip at 6-4 on the season.
In the first game of the day, Messiah scored four runs in the first, one in the third and one in the fifth, while Thomas More could only plate one run in the third and four in the fifth for the 6-5 loss.
Thomas More was led at the plate by sophomore catcher Laura Finke (Fort Wright, Ky./Notre Dame Academy), who was two-for-four with a run batted-in and junior designated player Kayla Fultcher (Mason, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian), who was two-for-three. Senior pitcher Mamee Salzer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) suffered the loss in the circle as she pitched seven innings and gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits, while striking out four.
In the second game of the day, Thomas More plated a run in the first inning, but Husson scored four in the sixth for the 4-0 victory.
Freshman pitcher/second baseman Alix DeDreu (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun) led the team at the plate as she was two-for-three with a RBI. DeDreu suffered the loss in the circle as she pitched five and a third innings and gave up four runs (all earned) on six hits and struck out five.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday (March 16) when they travel to Wilmington, Ohio to play Wilmington College in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
