Box Score (WASHINGTON, Pa.) - The third-seeded Thomas More College baseball teams was eliminated from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament today (Friday, May 11, 2012) as it fell, 2-1, to 14th-ranked and top-seeded Washington & Jefferson College at Ross Memorial Park in Washington, Pennsylvania.
With the loss, the Saints end the season at 25-16. With the win, the Presidents improve to 34-7 and advance to play fourth-seeded Saint Vincent College in another elimination game later today.
W&J took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second and the Saints cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second when sophomore third baseman Tyler Graber (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) scored on a SAC fly by senior second baseman Andrew Clements (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas). Neither team would plate a run over the final seven innings as W&J went on to the 2-1 victory.
Graber led the Saints at the plate as he was three-for-four with a run scored. Four other Saints had multiple hits in the game as junior shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) was two-for-five, freshman left fielder Nick Connor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four, sophomore designated hitter Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) was two-for-five and junior center fielder Brandon Nutini (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) was two-for-four.
On the mound, junior Mike Hager (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) suffered the loss as he pitched seven innings and gave up two runs (both earned) on nine hits and struck out one.
