Saints Shut Out Georgetown To End Regular Season

(GEORGETOWN, Ky.) – The Thomas More University softball team beat the Georgetown College Tigers Wednesday afternoon, 4-0. They finish the regular season with a record of 25-17 overall and 12-11 in the Mid-South Conference.

 

• The Saints jumped ahead in the top of the third inning behind a two-out rundown where the catcher threw down to second base, allowing Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to score the game's first run.
• Junior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) added to the lead with her 10th homerun of the season coming in the top of the fourth inning to bring the score to 2-0.
• Thomas More plated their final two runs in the top of the sixth, where Maclai Branson (Union, Ky./Ryle/University of Kentucky/Miami University (OH)) led the inning off with her 13th homerun of the season, before Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) would later plate the final run on a sacrifice fly to left field.

 

• Kemper led the Saints with two hits.
• Kemper, Branson, and Thoma all had one RBI.
• Kemper, Branson, Bledsoe, and Karys Black (Burlington, Ky./Boone County) all scored one run.

 

• Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) threw her third complete game one-hit shutout for the Saints over her last four appearances, striking out seven batters in the process.

 

The Saints will return to action in the Mid-South Conference Tournament next week.
