Softball Drops a Pair to Rio Grande on Tuesday Afternoon

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team was swept by the Rio Grande Red Storm on Tuesday (April, 18th) afternoon. Game one went to the Red Storm by a score of 7 to 5, while game to finished with a score of 5 to 3. Thomas More falls to an overall record of 22-16 on the season.

Game 1: Rio Grande  7-5
  • Rio Grande hit a solo home run in the first inning, and a three run home run in the second inning to take the early lead. (0-4)
  • Rio Grande scored 2 more runs in the 4th and 5th innings to extend their lead. (0-6)
  • Graduate student Maclai Branson (Union, Ky. / Ryle) doubled to bring home a run to get Thomas More on the board in the 5th inning. (1-6)
  • Junior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio / Oak Hills) followed with a 2 RBI double to cut the Red Storm lead to 3. (3-6)
  • Rio Grande scored another run in the 6th inning. (3-7)
