(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University softball split their Senior Day doubleheader against the No. 23 Campbellsville University Tigers Sunday afternoon. They won game one 8-0 in six innings, before dropping the final game 16-5. Thomas More is now 23-17 this season and 10-11 in the Mid-South Conference.
Thomas More defeats Campbellsville (Ky.), 8-0:
- The Saints got the scoring started in the bottom of the fourth inning.
- A pair of walks and a single loaded the bases for Becca Mowen (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton), where she singles through the right side to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
- Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) would later bring in another run on an infield single to bring the score to 2-0.
- The Saints loaded the bases again in the fifth with just one out.
- Mowen would come through again with a single up the middle for a 3-0 lead, before another run would come in on a fielder's choice to give Thomas More a 4-0 advantage.
- Thomas More won it in the sixth with a Karys Black (Burlington, Ky./Boone County) single through the left side, a Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) sacrifice fly, and a Mowen two-RBI double down the right field line to secure the run-rule at 8-0.
Campbellsville (Ky.) defeats Thomas More, 16-5:
- The Tigers plated three in the top of the first, before a Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills/Morehead State University) RBI walk and a Thoma two-RBI double off the shortstop's glove tied it at 3-3 in the bottom of the inning.
- The Tigers would retake a two-run lead over the following few innings before a Black homer to right center field tied the game back up in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Tigers would retake the lead for good in the sixth inning en route to victory.
Game One:
- Mowen had a game-high three base hits, while Black, Wefer, and Thoma all added a pair of hits.
- Mowen had four RBI.
- Black scored two runs.
Game Two:
- Black led the Saints with two hits.
- Black and Thoma both had two RBI.
- Black and Maclai Branson (Union, Ky./Ryle/University of Kentucky/Miami University (OH)) both scored two runs.
Game One:
- Gels threw a complete-game shutout, allowing only one hit and striking out six Tigers.
Game Two:
- Karys Black gave up three runs over 0.2 innings.
- Maddy Henry (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) allowed three runs over 4.1 innings while striking out two.
- Gels threw 1.1 innings and allowed four runs, striking out two batters.
- Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) allowed six runs, with none of them earned.
