Softball Fights Back to Sweep Trinity Christian in Double Header

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University softball team defeated Trinity Christian and Sunday afternoon (February 26) 6-4 in game one and 7-6 in game two. The Saints overall record improves to 6-0.

How they scored
Game 1: Thomas More 6-4
  • Graduate student Maclai Branson (Union, Ky./Ryle) hit a two-run home run in the second inning to score senior Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to put the Saints up by two in the bottom of the first inning (2-0). Sophomore Karys Black (Burlington, Ky./Boone County) would step up to the plate next and hit another home run for the Saints to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • Trinity Christian would score one run in the top of the fourth inning and one run in the top of the sixth inning (4-2).
  • Junior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) would step up to the plate in the bottomw of the sixth inning and hit one over the fence for the Saints third home run of the day. Karys Black and Maclai Branson would score for the Saints to push the lead to 6-2.
  • Trinity Christian would score two runs in the top of the seventh inning (6-4).
Game 2: Thomas More 7-6
  • Junior Kai Dickerson (Walton, Ky./Ryle) homered in the bottom of the second inning to score junior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to make to put the Saints on top 2-0. Malcai Bransen tripled to send in Hailey McAdoo to extend the Saints lead to 3-0.
  • Trinity Christian tied the game up at 3-3 in the top of the third inning.
  • First year Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) would score in the bottom of the third inning from a wild pitch to help put the Saints back on top (4-3).
  • Trinity Christian would take the lead in the top of the fourth inning with a three run home run to put the Trolls up 6-3.
  • Delaney Kemper would single to send in Karys Black to put the Saints within one in the bottom of the fifth inning (5-6).
  • In the bottom of the sixth inning, Hailey McAdoo would single to send in senior Mattison Fisher (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to tie the gam eup at 6-6. Maclai Bransen would step up to the plate next and double to score Hailey McAdoo for the winning run for the Saints (7-6).

  • Hailey McAdoo went 2-4 at the plate and scored one run.
  • Maclai Branson was 2-4 with a homerun, two RBIs, and scored two runs.
  • Karys Black also hit a home run on the day and was 2-3 at the plate with one rbi and scored two runs.
  • Delaney Kemper had a perfect day at the plate, going 2-2 with a homerun, three RBIs, and scored one run.
Game 2:
  • Maclai Branson went 2-4 at the plate with a triple and a double for two RBIs.
  • Karys Black was 2-4 scored one run.
  • Kai Dickerson was 2-4 from the plate with a home run, two RBIs, and scored one run.

Game 1:
  • Senior Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 3.0 innings, giving up one earned run off of one hit and struck out two.
  • Karys Black pitched 1.0 inning, giving up zero runs off of one hit and struck out one. 
  • Senior Emily Wisman (Okeana, Ohio/Harrison) pitched 3.0 innings, giving up three earned runs off of five hits and struck out one.
Game 2:
  • Junior Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) pitched 3.1 innings, giving up five runs with four earned off of five hits and struck out one.
  • Sophomore Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) pitched 3.2 innings, giving up no runs off of one hit and struck out two.
