Box Score 2 (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)- Thomas More's softball sweeps Shawnee State in day two double header to win the series 3-1, with the scores today of game one, 4-3 and game two, 7-3. The Saints overall record improves to 17-20 overall and 10-17 in conference.
Game 1: Thomas More 4-3
- Sophomore shortstop Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) scored in the bottom of the 1st inning of senior first baseman Andrea Gahan's (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) ground-out to third to give to Saints a 1-0 lead.
- Junior designated player Elana Harrison's (Mason, Ohio/Mason) singled through the hole at second base to score sophomore second baseman Caitlin Dawson's (Georgetown, Ky./Scott County) (2-0). Junior center-fielder Baylee Hobeika (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) would hit a RBI single to shallow left-field to send in Harrison to make it a 3-0 game in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
- Shawnee State scored one run in the 4th inning (3-1).
- In the bottom of the 4th inning, sophomore third baseman Chloe Woeste (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) would score off sophomore right-fielder Grace Workman's (Dayton, Ky./Dayton) bunt past the rushing infield to make it a 4-1 game.
- Shawnee State scored two runs in the 5th inning (4-3).
Game 2: Thomas More 7-3
- Harrison singled to deep center-field to score Gahan to put the Saints on the board 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st inning.
- Shawnee scored one run in the 3rd (1-1).
- Dawson doubled deep down the left-field line to send in Woeste and McAdoo to extend the Saints lead to 3-1. Dawson would then score on a fielder's choice hit by sophomore catcher Becca Mowen (4-1) in the 3rd.
- In the bottom of the 5th inning, Hobeika singled down the right-field line to score Dawson (5-1).
- Shawnee scored one run in the 6th (5-2).
- Sophomore left-fielder Kaylee Beal (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central) and McAdoo scored off Dawson's single over the second baseman's head to make it a 7-2 game in the bottom of the 7th.
- Shawnee scored one run in the 7th.
Game 1:
- Harrison 2-3 at the plate with an RBI and scored one run.
- Woeste was 3-3 with two doubles and scored one run.
Game 2:
- McAdoo was 2-4 with a double and score two runs.
- Dawson went 2-3 with four RBIs, a double, and scored two runs.
- Harrison went 1-2 at the plate with one RBIs and two walks.
- Beal was 2-2 with a sac bunt and scored one run.
Game 1:
- Sophomore pitcher Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched seven innings with two earned runs off five hits and struck out six.
Game 2:
- Gels started the game pitching 3 innings with one earned run off four hits and struck out one.
- Sophomore Emily Wisman (Okeana, Ohio/Harrison) pitched 2.1 innings with one earned run off zero hits.
- Sophomore pitcher Olivia Jackson (Florence, Ky./Boone County) pitched 1 inning allowing one earned run off zero hits.
- First-year pitcher Lindsay Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Greay Crossing) pitched 0.2 innings with zero hits and allowing zero runs.
The Saints return to the field Monday (April 19) to face Rio Grande in a double header beginning at 3:00 pm ET at Thomas More Field.
