Box Score 2 (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)- Thomas More's softball team swept Ohio Christian in double header today (March 30). The Saints won game one 16-3 and game two 9-0. Their overall record improves to 10-13.
GAME 1: Thomas More 16-3: 5 innings
- Ohio Christian scored three runs in the top of the second.
- In the bottom of the second, sophomore third baseman Chloe Woeste (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) put the Saints on the board when she hit one over the fence to deep left-center for her first home-run of the season (1-3).
- Sophomore shortstop Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) scored the first run of the 3rd inning from senior first baseman Andrea Gahan's (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) walk (2-3). Next up, sophomore designated player Becca Mowen singled to center to send in sophomore Caitlin Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Scott County) to tie the game at 3-3. Junior catcher Adrian Marquez (Rushville, Ind./Rushville Consolidated) hit a double to right-center to knock in senior center fielder Valerie Hudepohl (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) and Gahan to give the Saints the go ahead run (5-3). Marquez would score off of junior designated player Elana Harrison's (Mason, Ohio/Mason) infield single (6-3). McAdoo would single to right, sending in Woeste and Harrison (8-3). Off of Hudepohl's walk Ashley Pollard (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) would score (9-3). To end the inning, Mowen would double to center to send in McAdoo, Dawson, and Hudepohl (12-3).
- To start off the bottom of the 4th inning, McAdoo hit a sac fly to center to send in Woeste to continue the Saints lead (13-3). Dawson would launch a ball to deep left-center on an 0-2 count for a 3-run homerun sending in Harrison, Pollard, and Hudepohl (16-3).
GAME 2: Thomas More 9-0: 6 innings
- To start the scoring off for the Saints in the bottom of the 3rd was Woeste off of a sac fly from McAdoo to put the, ahead 1-0. Mowen would single to send in Hudepohl to extend the Saints lead to 2-0.
- Sophomore Grace Workman (Dayton, Ky./Dayton) would score in the bottom of the 4th off of McAdoo's single to left (3-0). Dawson next up would single to center sending in two runs (Woeste & McAdoo) to make it 5-0. Hudepohl grounded out to second scoring Dawson (6-0).
- In the bottom of the 6th inning, Gahan would double to deep left-center to send in three runs (Woeste, McAdoo, and Hudepohl) to run-rule Ohio Christian 9-0 and to set the All-Time school record for most career doubles (68).
GAME 1:
- Dawson went 1-1 with three walks, three RBIs, three runs, and a 3-run homerun.
- Harrison was 2-2 at the plate with one RBi and two runs.
- Woeste was 2-3 with one RBI, three runs and a one-run homerun.
- McAdoo went 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs.
- Mowen went 2-3 with four RBIS and a double.
- Hudepohl was 1-2 with one RBI, a double, two walks, and two runs.
- Pollard was 1-2 with one RBI, two runs, and one walk.
GAME 2:
- McAdoo went 2-3 at the plate with two runs, and two RBIs.
- Dawson was 3-4 with one run, two RBIS, and a double.
- Gahan went 2-4 with three RBIs and a double.
- Woeste was 2-3 with three runs.
GAME 1:
- Sophomore pitcher Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 5.0 innings with three runs off of four hits and four strikeouts.
GAME 2:
- Gels pitched 2.0 innings with no hits and two strikeouts.
- Bishop pitched 4.0 innings with two hits and one strikeout.
- Gahan broke the school record for most number of career doubles with 68. She now holds the All-Time record for doubles, RBIs, runs scored, and homeruns.
The Saints return to the field April 2 for the first double header of their four game series against Georgetown at Thomas More Field starting at 3:00 pm ET.
