Softball Suffers First Two Conference Losses of Season At Bethel

(McKenzie, Tenn.) – The softball program would drop the first two games on the season, losing in heartbreaking fashion in game one (11-10) and 6-1 in the second game.

Bethel Game 1:

• The Saints would jump out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the 1^st. Valerie Hudepohl, Caitlin Dawson, Andrea Gahan, Elana Harrison, Adrian Marquez, and Mattison Fisher would all cross the plate for TMU.
• Bethel would get 1 run back in the 2^nd to make the score 6-1 TMU.
• The Wildcats would push 5 across in the third to tie the game at 6 going into the 4^th.
• In the top of the 6^th Thomas More would add 4 more runs as Fisher, Hudepohl, Dawson, and Gahan all scored again, making the score 10-6 Thomas More.
• Over the next two innings Bethel would add 4 runs to tie the game back up at 10.
• The Wildcats would walk-off in the bottom of the 8^th making the final score 11-10 Bethel.

• Gahan went 1-4 with 3 rbi's and 2 runs scored.
• Harrison drove in 3 runs while going 2-5 in the game.
• Haley McAdoo went 2-4 with 1 run batted in.

Annika Gels would throw 7 1/3 innings pitched allowing 12 hits with 11 runs scored while striking out 9.

Bethel Game 2:

• Thomas More would jump out to a 1-0 lead after an Ashley Pollard double that would score Rebecca Mowen all the way from first.
• Bethel would go on to score the games final 6 runs with 1 in the 3^rd, 1 in the 4^th, and 4 in the 6^th.

• Hannah Bishop went 2-3 on the night.
• Mowen went 1-1 with one run scored.
• Pollard would go 1-3 while driving in the Saints only run on the evening.

• Pitcher Hannah Bishop allowed 13 hits and 6 runs while striking out 1 batter.

Softball will return to the field tomorrow where they will take on Bethel on games 3 and 4 on the weekend, first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
