Saints Lose to Mount St. Joseph 14-5

(CINCINNATI, Ohio) — The Thomas More University women's lacrosse team was beaten 14-5 on Saturday (February 29, 2020) by Mount St. Joseph University, sinking the Saints to 0-3.

• After the Lions scored the first three goals of the game, sophomore Katie Rice (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) scored at 22:59 to go in the first half to make it a 3-1 game.
• Mount St. Joseph struck back with two more goals, then Rice found the net for the second time on a free position shot to cut the deficit to 5-2 with 18:57 left in the first half.
• The Lions scored the next four goals to extend their lead to 9-2.
• First-year Claire Combs (Morrow, Ohio/Little Miami) scored with 6:09 to play in the half to make it a 9-3 game.
• Mount St. Joseph scored the final goal of the half with 4:14 remaining to take a 10-3 lead at the break.
• Senior Jalee Connor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) opened the scoring in the second half with 21:53 left to cut the score to 10-4.
• The Lions scored three more times before senior Erin Carrus (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark) scored on a free position shot with 6:21 left to make it 13-5.
• Mount St. Joseph scored the game's final goal with 4:27 left.

• Rice scored twice on three shots with three ground balls and four caused turnovers.
• Connor finished with a team-high 14 shots, including 13 on goal, one goal and five ground balls.
• Combs had three shots, two on goal, and a goal.
• Carrus finished with a goal on three shots, all on goal, and five ground balls. 
• Senior attacker Kelly McCord (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) put two shots on goal.
• First-year attacker Faith Smiddy (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) finished with five ground balls and three draw controls. 

• Thomas More hosts Adrian College on Tuesday afternoon (March 3) at 4 p.m. at BB&T Field.
