Box Score (Crestview Hills, Ky.) – The Thomas More men's basketball program honored the seniors appropriately as they took down Life University 71-68 Saturday on senior day. The win moved Thomas More to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
- Junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) made a layup with 17:03 remaining in the first making the score 3-2 Life.
- Sophomore Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would make a three-pointer with 13:55 remaining to give TMU their first lead of the game at 14-12.
- Sophomore T.J. Deere (Union, Ky./Cooper) would come into the game scoring 5 straight points for Thomas More stopping Life's run and giving the Saints a 32-31 lead with 4:45 remaining in the first half.
- Batte would close out the scoring for TMU knocking down two free throws at the end of the half tying the game 36-36 after twenty minutes of play.
- Batte would again start the scoring in the second half as he knocked down two free throws giving Thomas More a 38-36 lead with 17:30 remaining in the game.
- Senior Keegan Saben (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) knocked down a three with 4:42 remaining giving the Saints a 46-51 lead.
- Senior Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would make a layup off a feed from Batte to give TMU a lead of 65-59 with 2:36 remaining in the game.
- Saben capped off the scoring for Thomas More with a free throw giving the Saints a 71-66 lead.
- Batte set a new career high for points with 28
- Junior Logan Swackhammer (Chillicothe, Ohio/Unioto) led team in assists with 5
- Jolly had a team high 10 rebounds
- TMU's bench outscored Life's bench 12-4
The men's basketball program will return to action on Tuesday where they will take on Midway at the Conner Convocation Center at 7:00 p.m. ET.
