Box Score 2 (ALMA, Mich.) - The Thomas More University softball team moved to 22-8 today, taking down Alma, 7-2 in game one and falling in the final inning, 4-3, in game two. Alix DeDreu set a new hitting record in the first inning of game two, becoming the All-Time Leader in Career Doubles with 53 in her four years at Thomas More.
GAME 1
- In the first inning, Mary Beth Odom singled to the short stip, advancing Andrea Gahan to second and scoring Whitney Quillen.
- Kenzi Dickerson doubled to left field, moving Odom to third and scoring Gahan to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
- After a scoreless second inning, Elana Harrison doubled to left center, scoring Lindsey Meier taking a 3-0 lead after three innings.
- DeDreu singled to the center fielder, moving Quillen to second and scoring Amanda Lloyd in the fourth inning.
- Dickerson grounded out to second base, but moved Odom to second, DeDreu to third, and scored Quillen.
- Morgan Wells doubled to left field, scoring both Odom and DeDreu for the final two runs of the game for the Saints, taking a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth inning.
- Alma scored both of its runs off a two run home run in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 7-2.
- Four different Saints hit doubels in the game against the Scots.
- Dickerson and Wells led the team with two RBI's each.
- Quillen recorded the team-high of three hits, going 3-4 at the plate.
- Lloyd and Wells each added two hits, Wells going 2-3 and Lloyd going 2-4 at the plate.
- DeDreu was on the mound in game one for the Saints, facing 31 batters allowing only two runs and striking out 11 batters.
- The Saints had the tight 12-10 advantage in hits, and the 7-2 RBI advantage.
GAME 2
- The Saints scored first as Dickerson singled to left field, moving Gahan to second and scoring DeDreu in the first inning.
- The Scots scored three more, going into the final inning with a 3-1 lead.
- Baylee Hobeika doubled to left center field, moving Harrison to third and scoring Taylor Peterson and Gahan to tie the game at 3-3.
- Alma loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh and scored off a single down the left field line to take a 4-3 win.
- This was the first loss in 17 games for the Saints, having not dropped a game since the Spring Games in Florida back in early March.
- DeDreu led the game with three hits at the plate, going 3-4 along with a double in the first inning to move her to the top of the leader board in all-time career doubles hit.
- Hobeika led the team with two RBI's, both of which came in the seventh inning to tie the game, also recording two hits and going 2-4 at the plate.
- Kianah Towe started on the mound, facing 26 batters, allowing three runs adn striking out three batters.
- Olivia Jackson replaced Towe in the seventh inning, allowing one run and facing five batters.
- The Saints had the 8-6 advantage in hits against the Scots.
- The Saints return home to host Tranyslvania in a double header on April 10, with the first pitch at 3:30 p.m.
