#24-Ranked Softball Sweeps Adrian in Regular Season Finale Doubleheader

(ADRIAN, Mich.) - The No. 24-ranked Thomas More softball team took on Adrian in its final two games of the regular season today. The Saints took game one, 9-1, and game two 14-2 in five innings, to improve to 29-9 on the season. 

GAME 1

  • The Saints got on the board in the first inning, after Andrea Gahan singled to left field, moving Alix DeDreu to third and scoring Whitney Quillen to take a 1-0 lead. 
  • Morgan Wells hit a solo home run in the second to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Mary Beth Odom also hit a solo home run in the third to extend the lead to three.
  • Gahan doubled to center field, scoring Amanda Lloyd in the fifth inning to take a 4-1 lead. 
  • Baylee Hobeika singled to center field and reached second on a fielding error, scoring Wells in the sixth.
  • Sydney Turner reaced first on a dropped fly ball to center field and advanced to second base, scoring Hobeika to take a 6-1 lead. 
  • Gahan hit a two run home run over the left field fence, scoring DeDreu in the seventh.
  • Turner singled up the middle, moving Kenzi Dickerson to second and scoring Lindsey Meier to score the ninth run of the game for the Saints. 

  • Gahan led the Saints at the plate, going 3-4 with four RBI's, one double, one home run, and scoring one run. 
  • Odom, Wells, and Turner all recorded one RBI, as Odom and Wells both went 2-4 at the plate, Turner went 1-3. 
  • DeDreu and Elana Harrison both went 2-4 at the plate, as DeDreu hit for a double and had one run scored. 
  • In the circle, DeDreu received the win, facing 27 batters, allowing one run off four hits and recording nine strikeouts. 
  • The Saints had the 15-4 hit advantage, 7-1 RBI advantage, and a 35-24 at-bat advantage. 

GAME 2

  • In the first inning, DeDreu hit a two run home run over the center field fence, scoring Quillen to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Wells reached first on an error by the third baseman, moving Odom to third and scoring Gahan.
  • Hobeika grounded out to second base, moving Harrison to second, Wells to third, and scoring Odom to take a 4-0 lead after one inning. 
  • In the second inning, Dickerson doubled to right center field, scoring Odom, Gahan, and DeDreu.
  • Harrison singled to left field, moving Wells to second and scoring Taylor Peterson to take a 8-0 lead after two innings. 
  • Hobeika hit a two run home run over the left center field fence, scoring Harrison for the 10th run of the game for the Saints in the fourth inning. 
  • Dickerson singled down the left field line, scoring both Odom and Gahan.
  • Wells hit her second home run of the night, scoring Dickerson for the final run of the game for the Saints, taking a 14-0 lead. 

  • With her home run in the fourth inning, Hobeika recorded her first home run of her collegiate career.
  • The Saints ended game two on a line drive to DeDreu at shortstop, who turned it into a double play and threw out the runner at first. 
  • DeDreu went 3-4 at the plate, recording two RBI's and two runs scored.
  • Harrison and Quillen both recorded two hits, as Harrison went a perfect 2-2 at the plate and recorded one RBI and one runs scored and Quillen added one run scored.
  • Dickerson led the team with five RBI's, going 2-3 at the plate and scoring one run.
  • Gahan and Odom each had three runs scored, as Odom went 2-3 at the plate and Gahan went 1-3.  
  • Hobeika recorded three RBI's and  went 1-3. 
  • The Saints had the 15-1 advantage in hits, 13-1 advantage in RBI's and 31-17 advantage in at-bats. 
  • Kianah Towe recorded the win in game two, facing 20 batters, allowing one hit and recording three strikeouts. 

  • With the conclusion of the regular season, the Saints head north to New York to compete in the ACAA conference tournament.
