Lacrosse Falls to Franklin in a Double Overtime Battle

(FRANKLIN, Ind.) - The Thomas More women's lacrosse team fell in a double overtime battle, 10-9, a Franklin College. With the loss, the Saints move to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference. 

  • In the first half, Jalee Connor got the Saints on the board first, scoring within the first 30-seconds on an unassisted shot. 
  • Connor scored the next two goals for the Saints, first to tie the game up at 2-2 with 16-minutes to go in the half on an unassisted shot, and then again with 14-minutes to go to tie the game up at 3-3 on a free position shot. 
  • Katie Rice took the lead back for the Saints, just a few seconds later to take a 4-3 lead. 
  • Alex Stevens added to the Saints' lead, finding the back of the net with 11-minutes to go from an assist from Connor.
  • Rice found the back of the net once more in the first half, with six minutes to go, to take a 6-5 lead into half time. 
  • In the second half, Rice scored twice, once with 18-minutes to go to extend the lead to 7-5, and again after three straight Franklin goals, to tie the lead back up at 8-8 with seven minutes left in the half. 
  • Connor found the back of the net to send the game into overtime, tied at 9-9, off a free position shot with less than a minute to go. 

  • Connor and Rice each recorded four goals in the game and both recording double digits shots, Connor with 11, 11 on goal, and Rice with 13, 10 on goal. 
  • Stevens recorded her first goal of the season, along with two shots and two shots on goal. 
  • Rice led the team with six draw controls, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
  • Katie Bryson recorded four shots, four shots on goal, the team-high nine ground balls, and the team-high five caused turnovers. 
  • Alexa Harris recorded four shots, four shots on goal, four ground balls, one draw control, and one caused turnover.
  • Aleyna Heyman added one shot and one shot on goal, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers. 
  • Kennedy Yurt was in goal for all 64:44 of the double-overtime battle, recording 19 saves off 29 shots. 
  • Franklin had the slim 38-36 shots advantage while the Saints had the 28-23 ground ball and 33-39 shots on goal advantage. 

  • Thomas More returns home to take on Transylvania on April 20, in a 12:00 p.m. game.
