Horne Scores 1,000th Point in 89-64 Win Over Geneva

(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) - Senior Brandon Horne scored the 1,000th point of his career in the trip back to Beaver Falls, Pa. to take on old PAC foe, Geneva, winning 89-64. With the win, the Saints improve to 14-7 overall and drop the Golden Tornadoes to 8-11 on the season. 

  • Ryne Callahan led the game in the first half, scoring 16 points, going 6-8 from the field and 4-5 from beyond the arc. 
  • Horne led the team with five rebounds in the first half, adding to his four points and two steals. 
  • The Saints shot .654 from the field, .556 from beyond the arc, and .900 from the foul line in the first half. 
  • Thomas More went into halftime with a 48-39 lead. 

  • At the 7:15-minute mark, Horne scored the 1,000th point of his career off a layup, giving him his eighth point of the game. 
  • Ryan Batte led the team in the second half, scoring nine points and grabbing two rebounds. 
  • Damion King recorded the team high in the second half with five assists. 
  • The Golden Tornadoes got the Saints within two points with 15-minutes to go in the game, but a layup by Kedan Davis gave the Saints the spark they needed to extend their lead back to 20 with seven minutes to go. 
  • The Saints' defense put up a six-minute period without allowing the Golden Tornadoes to score, going on an 18-0 run. 

  • Five Saints put up double-digits tonight against the Golden Tornadoes. 
  • Horne became the 31st player in Thomas More men's basketball history to score 1,000 career points. Horne finished the game with 10 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and three steals. 
  • Davis recorded his first double-double of the season, grabbing 10 rebounds and putting up 11 points. 
  • King ended the night with 13 points, six rebounds, a team-high eight assists, and two steals. 
  • Callahan recorded the team-high 19 points, going 5-9 from beyond the arc, along with three rebounds, two assists, and one steal. 
  • Batte added 17 points, along with grabbing four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. 
  • Garren Bertsch ended the night with eight points, two rebounds, and one assist. 
  • The Saints outshot the Golden Tornadoes .567 to .369 from the field. 

  • The Saints stay on the road to take on Waynesburg on Feb. 2.
