Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College women's lacrosse team hosted Earlham College for its home opener today. The Saints fell to the Quakers 15-4 dropping their overall record to 0-2. Earlham improved to 3-5 overall with the win.
Earlham got ahead early scoring three goals in the first seven minutes. Jeni Hall tried to light a spark for the Saints by scoring on a free position shot and getting the Saints on the board. Earlham scored six more times, two of which were man-up goals, making the score 9-1 with five minutes left in the first half. Shelby Sherrill scored off an assist from Aleyna Heyman putting the Saints within seven with three minutes left. Sydney Polster found the back of the net before halftime with an assist from Jalee Connor. Thomas More trailed 11-3 going into halftime.
In the second half, Earlham scored four within the first 20 minutes. Connor would find the back of the net off a free position shot giving the Saints their fourth goal and her second goal of the game. The Saints could not overcome the deficit before time ran out, falling 15-4.
Connor ended the game with two points off seven shots including three shots on goal, along with one assist and one ground ball. Sherrill recorded one point on one goal, along with one shot and one shot on goal. Polster ended the game with one point on one goal, three shots on goal and three shots, along with three draw controls. Gillian Casey was in the net for the Saints today recording seven saves and one ground ball.
The Saints will continue their home stand, hosting Franklin College on April 4. The game starts at 3:30 pm on BB&T Field at Griffin Plaza.
