Pierani scores three as Saints fall at Charleston

(CHARLESTON, W.V.) – The Thomas More University women's lacrosse team fell to the University of Charleston on Wednesday afternoon (March 18) by a score of 17-5. The Saints fall to 1-7 overall on the season.

 How they scored
  • Senior Meg Pierani (Lawrenceburg, IN / Mercy McAuley) scored the first goal for the Saints at the 12:42 mark of the second quarter. She later scored at the 6:00 mark of the third quarter.
  • The Saints final three goals were all made during man-up situations. Sophomore Elina Emmons (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield) scored with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter before junior Alex Nunn (Loveland, OH / Loveland) connected with Meg Pierani with 9:02 left in the game.
  • Junior Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) scored the final goal with just under five minutes remaining.

 
  • Meg Pierani scored three goals on her four shots.
  • Elina Emmons and Anna Wells each scored on free position shots
  • Sophomores Jadyn Carle (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) and Lauren Ferrier (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) each caused two Golden Eagles turnovers.
  • Alex Nunn had the only Saints assist and had three of Thomas More's 12 draw controls.
 

The Saints will open Great Midwest Athletic Conference play next Thursday (March 26) as they travel to Ashland University. The game is scheduled to begin at 5pm.
