Box Score 2 (KISSIMMEE, Fla.) – The Thomas More College softball won a two games today (Tuesday, March 7, 2017) at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida. The Saints defeated Bluffton University, 6-1, in the first game and Lakeland College, 4-3, in the second game.
With the pair of wins, the Saints improve to 4-2 on the season.
In the first game of the day, Thomas More plated two runs in the second and four in the fourth, while holding the Beavers to a run in the sixth for the 6-1 victory. Sophomore pitcher Alix DeDreu (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun) earned the win in the circle as she pitched all seven innings and gave up one run (unearned) on two hits, while striking out five.
At the plate, senior left fielder Kayla Fulcher (Mason, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) was two-for-two with a run scored and two stolen bases. DeDreu was two-for-four with two runs scored and a run batted-in and junior center fielder Laura Finke (Fort Wright, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) was two-for-three with two runs scored and a stolen base. First-year designated player Kenzie Dickerson (Union, Ky./Ryle) was one-for-four with a home run, a run scored and two RBI.
In the win over Lakeland, junior Dallis Knotts (Florence, Ky./Boone County) earned the win in the circle. Dickerson led the team at the plate with three hits, including two doubles. Knotts and first-year Andrea Gahan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) each had two hits and sophomore Mary Beth Odom (Taylor Mill, Ky./Dixie Heights) had a home run.
The Saints are idle tomorrow and will return to the diamond on Thursday when they DeSales University at 9 a.m. and Gustavus Adolphus University at 1:30 p.m.
