Thomas More Falls on the Road to Rival MSJ

(CINCINNATI, Ohio) – The Thomas More College women's lacrosse team fell, 13-1, to across-the-river rival Mount St. Joseph University tonight (Wednesday, April 20, 2016) in an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) match at Schueler Field in Cincinnati, Ohio.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the ORLC.  With the win, the Lions improve to 7-7 overall and 5-2 in the ORLC.

Thomas More took an early 1-0 lead when junior Christy Smith (Washington Courthouse, Ohio/Washington) scored on a free position shot at the 26:41 mark of the first half.  MSJ scored three goals in the final 26:41 of the first half for a 3-1 halftime lead.  The Lions scored 10 goals in the second half and held Thomas More scoreless for the 13-1 victory.

Junior Josie Perrino (Tracey, Calif./St. Mary's) led the Saints in ground balls with six.  Sophomore Mollie Mosely (St. Bernard, Ohio/McAuley) suffered the loss in goal as she played 43:39 in the net and allowed 10 goals, while recording four saves.  Smith played the final 16:21 in goal and allowed three goals, while recording one save.

The Saints return to action on Friday (April 22) when they host Waynesburg University in an ORLC match at 5 p.m. at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
