Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Three Saints scored multiple goals today (Wednesday, April 8, 2015), but it wasn't enough as the Thomas More College women's lacrosse team fell, 15-8, to Transylvania University in an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) match at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the ORLC. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in the ORLC.
Transylvania took an early 4-0 lead with 22:26 to play in the first half. Saints cut the lead to 4-1 at the 20:32 mark of the first half when sophomore Tori Liles (Tollesboro, Ky./Lewis County) scored unassisted. The Pioneers added two goals before sophomore Megan Klever (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) scored off an assist from sophomore Josie Perrino (Tracey, Calif./St. Mary's) with 16:29 to play in the first half to make the score 6-2. Transy added a goal at the 11:53 mark when then Liles scored on a free position shot to make the score 7-3 with 8:39 to play in the half. The Pioneers added two goals in the final minutes of the first half to increase the lead to 9-3 at halftime.
Transylvania scored at the 29:30 mark of the first half to increase the lead to 10-3 and then Perrino scored unassisted with 28:21 to play in the match to cut the lead to 10-4. The Pioneers scored three unanswered goals to extend the lead to 13-4 with 25:20 to play in the match. Thomas More then scored four consecutive goals as Perrino scored at the 17:41 mark, freshman Abby Stadtmiller (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) scored at the 15:17 mark and sophomore Erika LaRosa (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) scored unassisted at the 12:18 mark and with 6:08 to play in the match off a Stadtmiller assist to cut the lead to 13-8. Transylvania scored two goals in the closing minutes of the match for the final score of 15-8.
Freshman Mollie Mosley (St. Bernard, Ohio/McAuley) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded a school-record 12 saves.
Thomas More won the battle of ground balls 25-20.
The Saints return to action on Friday (April 10) when they host Washington & Jefferson in the home finale at The Bank of Kentucky Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
