Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College men's basketball team made a school record 18 three-pointer in a 93-66 win over Washington & Jefferson College today (Saturday, February 8, 2014) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 11-9 overall and 10-2 in the PAC. With the loss, the Presidents' fall to 11-11 overall and 6-7 in the PAC.
Washington & Jefferson jumped out to an early 8-1 lead when Nate Bellhy made a jumper with 15:47 to play in the first half. The Saints answered with a 42-2 run to take their biggest lead of the half at 43-10 when freshman guard Sawyer Pauly (Crescent Springs, Ky./Covington Catholic) made a jumper with 2:41 to play in the opening half. W&J closed out the half on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 45-19 at halftime when Alex Lamendola made a lay-up with four-seconds to play in the half.
Thomas More opened the second half on a 30-21 lead to take its biggest lead of the game at 75-40 with 8:26 to play in the game when sophomore forward Matt Hargett (Verona, Ky./Walton-Verona) made a three-pointer. The Presidents closed out the game on a 26-18 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won the game, 93-66.
All 12 Saints scored at least four points and were led by senior guard Spencer Berlekamp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) with 15 points. Just missing double-figure scoring was senior forward Josef Marshall (Dayton, Ohio/Trotwood Madison), junior forward Jalen Clark (Frankfort, Ky./Western Hills), junior guard Eliot Pipes (Nashville, Tenn./Hillsboro) and freshman guard Louis Walker III (Cincinnati, Ohio/North College Hill) with nine points each. Marshall led the team on the boards with five rebounds, while freshman guard/forward Nate McGovney (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) led the team in assists with five.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday (February 12) when they host Westminster College. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
