Softball Splits Day Two Against Shawnee State

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team split day two against Shawnee State on Saturday afternoon (April 8) by falling 9-6 in game one and won 9-2 in game two. The Saints overall record impoves to 17-12 and 8-9 in conference.


Game 1: Shawnee State 9-6

• In the bottom of the third inning, graduate student Maclai Branson (Union, Ky./Ryle) reached ona fielder's choice to send home senior Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to put the Saints on the board 1-0. Junior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) would walk to score senior Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to make it a 2-0 game. Junior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) would follow and also walk to advance Maclai Branson in to score (3-0). Josie Wefer would score off a an error from a hit ball by first year Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) to extend the lead to 4-0.
• Jose Wefer doubled in the bottom of the fourth to score Hailey McAdoo and senior Kaylee Beal (Bright, Ind./East Central) to put the Saints up 6-0.
• Shawnee State scored two runs in sixth and seven runs in the top of the seventh (6-9).

Game 2: Thomas More 9-2

• Josie Wefer singled in the bottom of the first inning to score Hailey McAdoo to put the Saints on the board 1-0.
• In the bottom of the second, Hailey McAdoo hit a sac fly to center field to score Karys Black. Maclai Branson doubled to center to send in junior Kai Dickerson (Walton, Ky./Ryle) and Kaylee Beal to extend the lead to 4-0. 
• Karys Black hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to send in Sophia Thoma and Delaney Kemper to make it a 7-0 game. 
• Josie Wefer singled in the bottom of the fourth to send in Hailey McAdoo (8-0).
• Shawnee State scored two runs in the top of the 5th inning (8-2).
• Sophia Thomas hit a sac fly in the bottom of the sixth to score Maclai Branson (9-2).

Game 1:

• Josie Wefer went 2-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs.
• Kaylee Beal was 2-2 and scored one run.

Game 2:

• Josie Wefer was 2-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
• Kai Dickerson went 2-3 and scored one run.
• Hailey McAdoo was 1-2 with one RBI and score two runs.
• Maclai Branson was 1-3 with a double, two RBIs, and scored two runs.

Game 1:

• Senior Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 6.1 innings, giving up five runs with one earned off of five hits.
• Sophomore Karys Black (Burlington, Ky./Boone County) pitched 0.2 innings, giving up four unearned runs off of four hits.

Game 2:

• Junior Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) pitched 7 innings, giving up two runs with one being earned off of six hits, and struck out three.

The Saints return to action on Monday (April 10) against UNOH in Lima, Ohio in a double header beginning at 1:00 pm ET.
