Softball Splits Day Two Against Shawnee State

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's softball team split day two against Shawnee State on Saturday afternoon (April 8) by falling 9-6 in game one and won 9-2 in game two. The Saints overall record impoves to 17-12 and 8-9 in conference.

How they scored
Game 1: Shawnee State 9-6
  • In the bottom of the third inning, graduate student Maclai Branson (Union, Ky./Ryle) reached ona fielder's choice to send home senior Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to put the Saints on the board 1-0. Junior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) would walk to score senior Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to make it a 2-0 game. Junior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) would follow and also walk to advance Maclai Branson in to score (3-0). Josie Wefer would score off a an error from a hit ball by first year Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) to extend the lead to 4-0.
  • Jose Wefer doubled in the bottom of the fourth to score Hailey McAdoo and senior Kaylee Beal (Bright, Ind./East Central) to put the Saints up 6-0.
  • Shawnee State scored two runs in sixth and seven runs in the top of the seventh (6-9).

  • Senior Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 6.1 innings, giving up five runs with one earned off of five hits.
  • Sophomore Karys Black (Burlington, Ky./Boone County) pitched 0.2 innings, giving up four unearned runs off of four hits.
Game 2:
  • Junior Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) pitched 7 innings, giving up two runs with one being earned off of six hits, and struck out three.
