Saints Defeat Cumberland to Sweep Weekend Series

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)- Thomas More University's softball team defeated Cumberland (Tenn.) by a score of 10-5 in game 3 of the weekend series on Saturday (March 18th). The victory completed the weekend sweep for the Saints and improved their overall record to 12-6 and Mid South Conference record to 5-3.

How they scored
  • Cumberland got on the scoreboard first with 2 runs in the top of the third inning. (0-2)
  • Junior Kai Dickerson (Walton, Ky. / Ryle) led off the start of a big Saint 3rd inning with a triple. She was later brought in by a junior Tori Madden (Anderson, Ohio / Anderson) single. (1-2)
  • Tori Madden would then score from third on a wild pitch to tie the game. (2-2)
  • Graduate student Maclai Branson (Union, Ky. / Ryle) hits a 3 run home run to give Thomas More the lead. (5-2)
  • Senior Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mercy McAuley) singled to bring home another Thomas More run in the 4th inning. (6-2)
  • Sophomore Karys Black (Burlington, Ky. / Boone County) grounded out but brought home a run in the process to give Thomas More a 5 run lead after 4 innings. (7-2)
  • Cumberland scored another run in the top of the 5th. (7-3)
  • A Tori Madden sacrifice fly scored another Thomas More run in the bottom of the 5th. (8-3)
  • Junior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky. / Williamstown) hits a RBI single in the 6th inning to extend the Saint lead. (9-3)
  • Junior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio / Oak Hills) hits an RBI single to extend the lead to 7. (10-3)
  • Cumberland scores 2 runs in the top of the 7th. (10-5)
