No. 3 Seed Men's Basketball Cruise by No. 11 Seed Lindsey Wilson in MSC Quarterfinals

(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.)-No. 3 seed Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated No.11 seed Lindsey Wilson on Saturday evening (February 25), 79-58 in the Quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. The Saints overall record improves to 22-7.

First Half
  • Sophomore Wyatt Vieth (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) kicked off the Saints 14-0 run over the Blue Raiders to start the game off by driving to the rim for a layup with 19:23 on the clock (2-2).
  • Sophomore Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) made a layup with 12:55 to play in the first to extend the Saints lead to 12 (16-4).
  • With 6:52 to play in the first half, senior Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) drained a 3-point basket to make it a 30-16 game.
  • Senior Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) hit a jump shot to close out the scoring in the first half with 1:07 to play, and give the Saints a 38-19 lead going into the locker room at the half. 
  • Jacob Jones led the Saints in the first half with 10 points and had one rebound and one assist.
  • Reid Jolly followed with eight points, three rebounds, and one assist.
  • Kyle Ross led the team defensively with five rebounds and put up eight points.
  • Noah Pack recorded three assists to lead the team in the first half and had four rebounds and three points.
  • Wyatt Vieth had seven points and four rebounds.
  • The Saints were 56.3% (18-32) from the field and 33.3% (2-6) from the 3-point line in the first half. 
Second Half
  • Wyatt Vieth hit two free throws to start off the second half and put the Saints up by 21 points with 19:49 on the clock (40-19).
  • Jacob Jones drove in for a layup with 12:44 to play in the game to make it a 16 point game (52-36).
  • With 7:16 to play, redshirt sophomore Eli Howard (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) knocked in a 3-point basket to put the Saints up by 18 (67-49).
  • Redshirt sophomore Matt Smith (Charlotte, NC./Independence) made a layup for the Saints final basket of the game with 1:00 on the clock (79-54).
  • The Saints defeated the Blue Raiders 79-58.
  • Jacon Jones tallied 12 points and two assists in the second half to lead the team and had two rebounds.
  • Reid Jolly recorded three rebounds to lead the team and had five points. 
  • Wyatt Vieth also had three rebounds for a team high in the second half and had six points.
  • Eli Howard had two assists to lead the team in the second half.
  • The Saints were 50% (10-20) from the field, 66.7% (4-6) from the 3-point line, and 94.4% (17-18) from the free throw line in the second half.
Notables
  • Jacob Jones led the Saints with 22 points and three assists and brought down five rebounds. Jones was named Player of the Game. 
  • Reid Jolly had 13 points, six rebounds, and one assist.
  • Wyatt Vieth led the team with seven rebounds and recorded 13 points.
  • Kyle Ross tallied 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
  • Noah Pack had three assists to also lead the team and had six points and six rebounds.
