(WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.) – The Thomas More men's basketball team won their 15th game of the season Saturday afternoon at the University of the Cumberlands 71-57. This was their second win over the Patriots. They are now 15-5 overall and 10-5 in the Mid-South Conference.\
- The Saints got off to a quick start in this one.
- With the score 10-9, an 11-2 run gave Thomas More a 21-11 advantage with 9:04 left in the first half.
- Redshirt Junior Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) scored five points during the run while Kyle Ross (St. John, Ind/Wisconsin-Milwaukee) and Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./University of Wisconsin Green Bay) both added three.
- The Patriots got back into the game with a 10-4 flurry of their own to make it 25-21, but the Saints would hold Cumberlands at bay for the remaining 3:15 of the first half.
- Their lead kicked back up to eight with 1:46 left after a Ross layup before heading into the locker room up 30-23.
- Jolly and Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) both scored nine in the first half while Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./Saint Henry) led the way with six rebounds.
- The second half began with four points from Cumberlands to cut the lead to three, before the Saints began to pull away.
- An 8-0 stretch gave the Saints a comfortable 38-27 advantage with 15:30 to play.
- Jolly had six of the eight points for Thomas More.
- The lead ballooned to 51-33 with 11:24 remaining, as the Saints shot 51.7% (16-31) from the field over the final 20 minutes.
- This lead wouldn't dip below 13 for the remainder of the game, as the Saints earned the 71-57 victory.
- Jolly and Jones both had a game-high 21 points while George added a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
- This is George's second double-double of the season and his collegiate career.
- This is Jolly's 10th game with 20 or more points this season, and Jones's third game of the season with 21 points.
- Jones also led the team with four assists.
- Thomas More shot 45.3% (29-64) from the field in the game.
The Saints are back in the Connor Convocation Center Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. where they battle the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders, whom they defeated 78-72 back on Jan. 7 in Columbia, Kentucky.
