Box Score 2 Crestview Hills, Ky. - The softball program at Thomas More split with the #17 ranked Patriots of the University of the Cumberlands by taking game one 3-2 and falling in game two 12-1 on Saturday, April 2. With the split the Saints move to 11-20 on the year and 7-13 in Mid-South Conference play.
- Cumberlands would get on the board first with a sacrifice fly to take an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
- First-year Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) would force an error to score Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mercy McAuley) from third in the bottom of the third to tie the game up at one.
- Junior Caitlin Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Scott County) would steal home on a double steal attempt to take a 2-1 lead.
- In the bottom of the fourth senior Baylee Hobeika (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) would lead off the inning with a home run to take a 3-1 lead.
- Cumberlands would try to rally in the seventh, but would only be able to push across one run to make the final 3-2 in favor of Thomas More.
- McAdoo went a perfect three-for-three with a run scored.
- Dawson collected two hits in three plate appearances with a run scored.
- Hobeika went one-for-three with an rbi and run scored off of her home run.
- Junior Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) would pitch a complete game allowing two runs on six hits in seven innings pitched.
Game Two: Cumberlands won 12-1.
- The Patriots would grab an early four run lead in the top of the first.
- Cumberlands added another run in the top of the second via a single to extend their lead to 5-0.
- In the bottom of the second senior catcher Adrian Marquez (Rushville, Ind. / Rushville Consolidated) would single to score Hobeika from second to cut the lead to 5-1.
- The Patriots would hit a three run home run in the top of the fourth to make their lead 8-1.
- Cumberlands closed out the scoring in the top of the sixth with four more runs to make the final 12-1.
- Hobeika went one-for-two in the game with a run scored.
- Marquez went one-for-two from the dish with an rbi.
- Junior Mattison Fisher (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) would go one-for-two in the game.
- Senior Elana Harrison (Mason, Ohio/Mason) would collect a hit in three plate appearances.
- McAdoo would also go one-for-two in the game.
- Sophomore Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio / Wayne) pitched one inning allowing five runs on three hits.
- Junior Emily Wisman (Okeana, Ohio / Harrison) went 2 1/3 innings allowing three runs on three hits.
- Kent pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing three runs on four hits.
- Junior Hannah Bishop (Ryle, Ky./Union) threw one complete inning allowing one run on two hits.
Softball returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 5 when the play host to IU-Southeast in Crestview Hills, Kentucky in a double header, first pitch is set for 3 p.m. ET.
