Softball Drops Conference Double Header to RV Campbellsville

Campbellsville, Ky. - The softball program at Thomas More fell to the receiving votes Tigers of Campbellsville University by scores of 9-0 and 11-3 in the series opening double header. With the losses the Saints fall to 12-24 on the year and 8-17 in MSC play.

Game One: Campbellsville won 9-0 in six innings.

  • Campbellsville would add three runs in the bottom of the first to take an early 3-0 lead.
  • The Tigers would strike for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring the final to 9-0 in six innings.

  • Graduate outfielder Valerie Hudepohl (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) would collect two hits in three plate appearances.
  • Junior Caitlin Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Scott County) would add one hit in three plate appearances.
  • Senior Lauren Taylor (Reading, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame) went one-for-two in the game.

  • Junior pitcher Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) would throw 5 2/3 innings allowing six runs on four hits.

Game Two: Campbellsville won 11-3.

  • Thomas More would strike the board first as Junior Hailey McAdoo (Cincinatti, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) would drive in Dawson on a triple to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Campbellsville would answer with four runs in the bottom of the first to take a 4-1 lead.
  • The Tigers would add three more runs in the bottom of the second to extend their lead to 7-1.
  • Senior Elana Harrison (Mason, Ohio/Mason) would single to left center in the top of the fifth to drive in Dawson to cut the lead to 7-2.
  • Senior Baylee Hobeika (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) would send a single past the third baseman to to score McAdoo from third, trimming the lead to 7-3.
  • Campbellsville would then strike for four runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring the final tally to 11-3 after six innings.

  • Dawson went a perfect three-for-three in the game with two runs scored.
  • McAdoo would go one-for-two with a walk, an rbi, and a run scored.
  • Hobeika and Harrison would both go one-for-three with an rbi each.

  • Sophomore Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio / Wayne) pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing seven runs on seven hits.

Softball returns to the diamond tomorrow, April 16 where they will take on Campbellsville in Campbellsville, Kentucky for games three and four with first pitch set for 12 p.m. ET.
