Box Score 2 (PORTSMOUTH, Ohio)-Thomas More University softball team split day one of their series against Shawnee State with a win of 3-2 in game one in nine innings and a loss of 5-4 in game two. The Saints overall record falls to 12-21 and 8-14 in conference.
Game 1: Thomas More 3-2 in nine innings
- First year Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) grounded out to the shortstop to send home junior Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to put the Saints on the board 1-0 in the top of the first inning. Senior Elana Harrison (Mason, Ohio/Mason) doubled to left center to score junior Caitlin Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Scott) to extend the Saints lead to 2-0.
- Shawnee State scored two runs in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.
- In the top of the ninth inning, senior Lauren Taylor (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) tripled down the right field line to send in junior Chloe Woeste (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) for the game winning run (3-2).
Game 2:
- Elana Harrison doubled to center field in the top of the first inning to score Emma Kent to put the Saints on the board 1-0.
- Shawnee State scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning.
- Hailey McAdoo homered to center field in the top of the fifth inning. Caitlin Dawson scored off a ground out to short stop hit by Elana Harrison to tie the game up at 3-3.
- Shawnee scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth (5-3).
- Hailey McAdoo scored off a fielder's choice hit by Elana Harrison in the top of the seventh inning (5-4).

- Junior pitcher Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 9.0 innings giving up two earned runs off seven hits and struck out eight.
Game 2:
- Sophomore Lindsay Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Great Crossing) pitched 1.2 innings, giving up three earned runs off four hits.
- Emma Kent pitched 3.1 innings, giving up two earned runs off three hits, and struck out wo.
- Junior Emily Wisman (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) pitched 1.0 inning, giving up no runs or hits.
The Saints return to the field tomorrow (April 11) to close out their series against Shawnee State with a double header beginning at 10:00 am ET.
