Box Score Mobile, Ala. - The softball program at Thomas More fell to the Owls of William Woods by a 5-2 score line on Tuesday, March 9. With the loss the Saints drop to 2-9 on the season.
- Thomas More got on the board first in the bottom of the fourth as an Elayna Harrison (Mason, Ohio / Mason) single would score Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mercy McAuley) to make the score 1-0 heading into the fifth.
- William Woods would get going at the right time as they scored five runs in the top of the seventh.
- The Saints would try to rally back as graduate outfielder Valerie Hudepohl (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) would score on a Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky. / Williamstown) ground out to make the score 5-2. Thomas More were unable to mount anymore runs and would fall 5-2.
- Hudepohl went two-for-four from the dish with one run scored.
- McAdoo would sport a .667 batting average as she collected two hits in three plate appearances with a run scored and would draw a walk.
- Harrison went one-for-four with an rbi.
- First-year Madison Vaughn (Cincinnati, Ohio / Seton) would draw two walks in the effort.
- Junior Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) would go five full innings allowing no runs on six hits while striking out two.
- Sophomore Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio / Wayne) pitched two innings allowing five runs on four hits and would strike out three.
Softball will return to the diamond on Thursday, March 10 when they travel to Pulaski, Tennessee to take on the UT Southern Firehawks at 5 p.m. ET.
