Box Score 2 (CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University softball team fell 5-1 and 8-7 to #15 Freed Hardeman on Friday (March 4) in the Saints home opener. The Saints overall record falls to 2-6 and 2-4 in conference.
Game 1: Freed Hardeman 5-1
- Freed Hardeman sored one run in the top of the first and third inning, and two runs in the fourth (4-0).
- Junior Chloe Woeste (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) singled to send in first year Madison Vaughn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) (4-1).
- Freed scored one run in the top of the sixth inning (5-1).
Game 2: Freed Hardeman 8-7
- Freed Hardeman scored on run in the top of the second inning (1-0).
- Madison Vaughn hit a two run homer, for her first collegiate homerun to put the Saints ahead 1-2 in the bottom of the second.
- In the bottom of the third inning, graduate student Valerie Hudepohl (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) homered to extend the Saints lead to 1-3.
- Freed Hardeman scored one run in the top of the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning to put the Lions ahead 4-3
- Elana Harrison hit a grand slam for her first homerun of the season to put the Saints up 4-7 in the bottom of the fifth.
- Freed Hardeman scored three runs in the top of the sixth and one run in the top of the seventh (8-7).

- Valerie Hudepohl was 2-4 at the plate with one RBI, a double, and scored two runs.
- Elana Harrison was 2-3 with four RBIs, a grand slam, and scored on run.
- Madison Vaughn went 1-3 at the plate with two RBIs, a home run, and scored on run.
Game 1:
- Junior pitcher Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 5.0 innings, giving up four earned runs off five hits, and struck out four.
- Junior pitcher Hannah Bishop (Union, Ky./Ryle) pitched 2.0 innings, giving up one run (unearned) off two hits, and struck out one.
Game 2:
- Sophomore pitcher Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) pitched 4.1 innings, giving up three earned runs off 10 hits, and struck out five.
- First year pitcher Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) pitched 2.2 innings and gave up four earned runs off five hits.
The Saints return to the field tomorrow to continue their series against Freed Hardeman with a double header, beginning at 12:00 pm ET at Thomas More Field.
