Softball Drops Doubleheader to RV Rio Grande

(RIO GRANDE, Ohio)-Thomas More University softball team fell to RV Rio Grande on Monday (March 28) 3-1 in game one and 8-6 in game two. The Saints overall record falls to 10-17.

Game 1:

• Rio Grande scored on run in the fourth inning (1-0).
• Junior Caitlin Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Scott) doubled down the rightfield line to score junior Mattison Fisher (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to tie the game up at 1-1 in the top of the fifth.
• Rio Grande score two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning (3-1).

Game 2:

• Rio scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and two runs in the bottom of the second (5-0). 
• Senior Baylee Hobeika (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) doubled to left center to score junior Hannah Bishop (Union, Ky./Ryle) and junior Haylee McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to put the Saints on the board (5-2) in the top of the third inning. 
• In the top of the fourth inning, Caitlin Dawson singled to the infield to send in Mattison Fisher (5-3).
• Senior Lauren Taylor (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) singled to right field in the top of the fifth inning to score Baylee Hobeika (5-4).
• Rio scored one run in the bottom of the fifth and two runs in the bottom of the sixth (8-4).
• Senior Adrian Marquez (Rushville, Ohio/Rushville Consolidated) reached on a fielder's choice to advance Elana Harrison home to score in the top of the seventh (8-5). Mattison Fisher would also reach on a fielder's choice to send in Baylee Hobeika (8-6).

Game 1:

• Caitling Dawson went 2-4 at the plate with a double and had one RBI.
• Senior Elana Harrison (Mason, Ohio) was 2-2 and was walked once.
• Mattison Fisher hit a double and scored one run, going 2-3 at the plate.

Game 2:

• Haley MacAdoo went 2-4 scoring one run. 
• Elana Harrison was 2-3 at the plate with one walk and scored one run.
• Junior Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was 1-1.

Game 1:

• Junior Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 6.0 innings, giving up three earned runs off seven hits, and struck out six.

Game 2:

• Hannah Bishop pitched 2.0 innings, giving up five runs (three earned) off six hits, and stuck out two.
• Junior Emily Wisman (Okeana, Ohio/Harrison) pitched 2.1 innings, giving up one earned run off three hits, and struck out one.
• Sophomore Lindsay Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Great Crossing) pitched 1.2 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) of three hits.

The Saints return to the field this weekend for a conference series against #17 Cumberlands (Ky.) beginning Friday (April 1) at 2:30 pm ET on Thomas More Field.
