Box Score 2 Crestview Hills, Ky. - The softball program at Thomas More split their Tuesday evening double header with the Midway University Eagles by winning game one 3-1 and falling in game two 12-8. With the split the Saints move to 9-14 on the year.
Game One: Thomas More won 3-1.
- Senior Elana Harrison (Mason, Ohio/Mason) would get the scoring started in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run that would also drive in first-year Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio / Badin) to take a 2-0 lead.
- First-year Madison Vaughn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) would score on a double steal attempt in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 3-0.
- Midway would score a run in the top of the fourth, but that would be all they would muster as the final came to 3-1 in favor of the Saints.
- Harrison went one-for-two with a home run and two rbi's while drawing a walk.
- Senior Baylee Hobeika (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) went one-for-three in the game.
- Senior Catcher Adrian Marquez (Rushville, Ind. / Rushville Consolidated) went one-for-two in the game with a walk.
- Senior Lauren Taylor (Reading, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame) collected a hit in three plate appearances.
- Junior pitcher Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) threw seven complete innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven.
Game Two: Midway won 12-8.
- Midway would get on the board early as they would put up a five spot in the first.
- The Eagles would add two more runs in the top of second to take a 7-0 lead.
- Harrison would once again start the scoring with a home run this time a solo shot in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 7-1.
- Junior Hannah Bishop (Union, Ky./Ryle) would double in the second to score Vaughn from first to make the score 7-2.
- In the bottom of the fourth Bishop would hit a single that would advance Hobeika to third who would then score on a fielding error to make the score 7-3.
- Junior Mattison Fisher (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) would hit a double to right center to score Vaughn and Bishop to bring the tally to 7-5.
- Junior Caitlin Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Scott) would single into left field to close out the third, scoring Fisher from second (7-6).
- Bishop would once again come up clutch with another double in the bottom of the fifth to score Vaughn, tying the game at 7-7.
- Midway added three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 10-7 lead.
- The Eagles added two more runs in the top of the seventh to grow the lead to 12-7.
- Marquez would single home Vaughn in the bottom of the seventh, but the Saints rally would end there to bring the final to 12-8.
- Vaughn went a perfect four-for-four from the dish with four runs scored.
- Bishop went three-for-three in the batters box with a pair of doubles, two rbi's, one run scored, and drew a walk.
- Dawson batted .500 for the game with a run batted in.
- Fisher went one-for-four with a double, two rbi's, and one run scored.
- Kent went 1 2/3 innings allowing five earned runs on six hits.
- Bishop pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits.
Softball will return to the diamond on Friday, March 25 when they host Georgia Gwinnett on Thomas More Field at 2:30 p.m. ET.
