Softball Splits with Bethel in Day One Double Header

Crestview Hills, Ky. - The softball program at Thomas More split with the Wildcats of Bethel University on Saturday by taking game one 7-2 and falling in game two 9-1. With the split the Saints record moves to 6-13 on the year and 4-10 in MSC play.

Game one: Thomas More wins 7-2.

  • First-year Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio / Badin) would get the scoring underway smacking a double off the fence to score Hailey McAdoo from first for a 1-0 lead.
  • Senior Baylee Hobeika (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) would hit a double of her own to score Kent from second to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Junior Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio / Oak Hills) would hit a two out single to drive in senior Elana Harrison (Mason, Ohio/Mason) and Hobeika to exten the lead to 4-0 after one.
  • Junior Caitlin Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Scott) would hit a solo home run to make the lead 5-0.
  • Hobeika would continue her big game with a two run home run to give the Saints a 7-0 lead.
  • Bethel would drive a run across in both the sixth and seventh but that is all they would score to make the final 7-2.

  • Hobeika went two-for-three at the dish with three rbi's, two runs scored, and a home run.
  • Dawson collected two hits in three appearances with an rbi via the home run.
  • Harrison added two hits in the win with a run scored and a double.
  • Bledsoe went .500 at the plate with a hit and two rbi's.

  • Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched a complete game allowing two runs on five hits while striking out nine.

Game two: Bethel won 9-1 in five innings.

  • Bethel would take an early two run lead in the top of the first.
  • The Wildcats would add one run in the second to make the score 3-0.
  • Bethel would put up a five spot in the top of the third to extend the lead to 8-0.
  • Junior Mattison Fisher (Cincinnati, Ohio / Oak Hills) would score on a fielders choice to cut the lead to 8-1.
  • In the top of the fifth Bethel would add the final run to make the final score 9-1.

  • Fisher collected two hits in two plate appearances with a run scored.

  • Junior Hannah Bishop (Union, Ky./Ryle)) allowed three earned runs on 10 hits in four innings pitched.
  • Sophomore Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio / Wayne) threw one complete inning allowing five runs on four hits.

Softball will return to the diamond tomorrow, March 20 when they complete their four game series with Bethel with first pitch set for 12 p.m. ET.
