Softball Sweeps Lourdes in Dominant Fashion

Sylvania, Ohio - The softball program at Thomas More took down Lourdes University in a two game series by scores of 11-6 and 20-6. With the pair of wins the Saints improve to 5-12 on the season.

Game one: Thomas More wins 11-6.

  • Senior Elana Harrison would get the scoring started in the top of the first as she would hit a double to right center scoring Emma Kent and Caitlin Dawson.
  • Lourdes would answer with a run in the bottom of the first to cut into the lead (2-1).
  • The Gray Wolves would score three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead.
  • Lourdes would score two more runs in the bottom of the third to increase their lead to 6-4.
  • Harrison would pick up another rbi in the top of the fifth as she would drive in Mattison Fisher.
  • Hailey McAdoo would score by stealing home to cut the lead to 6-4.
  • Junior Sarah Caruso would score on a wild pitch to close out the fifth making it a 6-5 deficit.
  • Kent would single up the middle in the top of the sixth to score Fisher and Kaylee Beal to take a 7-6 lead.
  • Harrison would pick up her fourth rbi of the game as she would single through the right side to score Dawson.
  • Senior Baylee Hobeika would ground out in the top of the sixth to score Kent from third.
  • Junior Lauren Taylor tripled down the right field line to score Harrison and make the score 10-6.
  • Senior Adrian Marquez would hit a single that would score Taylor and bring the final score to 11-6 in favor of Thomas More

  • Harrison would hit .750 for the game with three hits, four rbi's, and one run scored.
  • Dawson would go two-for-four with a double and two runs scored.
  • Kent would go two-for-three in the game with two rbi's, two runs scored, and would draw a walk.

  • Senior Annika Gels through seven complete innings allowing five runs on 10 hits while striking out five.

Game two: Thomas More wins 20-9.

  • Harrison would once again get things started in game two with a single that would advance Dawson to third who would score on a throwing error.
  • Lourdes answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the first to tie things up at one all.
  • In the top of the second Fisher would hit a triple to score Taylor and Marquez to take a 3-1 lead.
  • McAdoo would extend the lead to three with a single to score Fisher from third.
  • The Gray Wolves would score five in the bottom of the second to once again take a 6-4 lead.
  • The Saints would strike again in the top of the third as Hobeika single to score Kent from third.
  • Caruso would score on a fielding error via a Marquez batted ball to tie the game up at 6-6.
  • A Taylor single up the middle would give Thomas More the lead as she would score Hobeika from third.
  • A bases loaded walk woulds score Hannah Bishop from third to extend the lead to 8-6.
  • Dawson would keep the scoring going in the third with a single to score Marquez.
  • Kent would reach base on a fielders choice to that would see McAdoo and Taylor score on a throwing error.
  • Harrison would pick up another rbi on a groundout to score Dawson from third.
  • Kent would score on a ball in play by Hobeika that resulted in a throwing error to increase the lead to 13-6 after three.
  • In the top of the fourth Dawson would hit a sac fly to score Taylor from third.
  • Harrison added two more rbi's in the fourth to grow the lead to 16-6 after four.
  • Ashley Pollard would double down the left field line in the top of the fifth to score Kai Dickerson from second.
  • Olivia Jackson would bat in the top of the fifth, smacking a double to score Fisher.
  • Taylor Peterson would score on an errant throw to close out the Saints scoring at 20-6.
  • Lourdes would add three runs in the bottom of the fifth but the game would end in a run rule with the final 20-9.

  • Taylor would go a perfect three-for-three from the dish with three runs scored and an rbi.
  • Harrison collected another three hit game with four runs batted in.
  • McAdoo had one hit in three at bats with two rbi's and two runs scored.
  • Dawson and Fisher both collected one-for-three games with two runs scored and two rbi's each.

  • Junior Hannah Bishop pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing six runs on seven hits.
  • Kent pitched 3 1/3 innings allowing three runs on six hits.

Softball will return to the diamond on Saturday, March 19 when they take on Bethel in a Mid-South Conference double header at 1 p.m. ET in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
