Crestview Hills, Ky. - The women's basketball program at Thomas More defeated Haskell by an 89-42 score. With the win the Saints improve to 27-4 on the year and move on to be one of the final 32 teams remaining in the NAIA National Tournament.
- Graduate forward Alexah Chrisman (Greendale, Ind./McAuley) scored the first basket of the National Tournament for Thomas More as she would sink a free throw with 6:53 to go in the first quarter.
- Senior guard Taylor Clos (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) came in and made an immediate impact scoring five points in a 20 second span to take a 6-2 with 5:33 to go in the first.
- Junior Summer Secrist (Taylor Mill, Ky./Scott) would close out the scoring in the first for the Saints with a layup to take a 22-6 lead heading into the second period.
- Sophomore guard Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) would splash home a three-pointer to start the scoring in the second to increase the lead to 25-6.
- Junior guard Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) made a layup at the 5:44 mark in the second to take a 25 point lead.
- Chrisman closed out the second with a layup off a feed from Clos to take a 47-16 lead into the locker room.
- At the 7:37 mark in the third quarter junior guard Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) would rattle home a three via a Barth assist to make the score 54-17.
- Sophomore Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) would find junior Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) with 2:40 remaining in the third for a layup to increase the lead to 62-23.
- Clos would finish the scoring in the third quarter for Thomas More with a three ball off an assist from Jones to take a 73-26 lead into the fourth.
- Secrist would start the scoring in the final period with a layup with 8:55 remaining to give the Saints a 79-31 lead.
- Junior guard Sammi Whiteman (Covington, Ohio/Covington) would hit an elbow jumper with 3:23 to go to make the lead 85-37.
- Sophomore Mattison Vickers (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) would score the final four points of the night for Thomas More to help them cruise to a 89-42 win.
- Clos led the team in scoring with 17 points and registered two steals.
- Barth registered 15 points on the night with two steals and four assists.
- Chrisman nearly had a double-double as she totaled 11 points with nine rebounds.
- Smith also had a big game with 14 points and seven boards.
- Thomas More as a team assisted on 21 of their 36 made baskets.
- The Saints shot 36-74 from the field for a 48.6% made field goal percentage.
Women's basketball will return to the Connor Convocation Center tomorrow, March 12 when they take on Grand View at 3 p.m. ET in the Opening Round Championship game for a chance to go to Sioux City, Iowa.
