Softball Splits Day Two of Series with UT Southern

(PULASKI, Tenn.)-Thomas More University softball team split day two of their series with UT Southern on Friday (March 11) with the scores of 13-2 in game one (won) and 1-7 in game two (loss). The Saints overall record improves to 3-12 and 3-9 in conference.

Game 1: Thomas More 13-2

• UT Southern scored one run in the bottom of the first (0-1).
• In the top of the second inning, junior Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) singled to send in junior Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to tie the game up at 1-1.
• Senior Lauren Taylor (Reading, Ohio/Mt. Notre Dame) singled to score first year Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) to make it a 2-1 game in the top of the third. Junior Sarah Dougoud (Reading, Ohio/Roger Bacon) would score on a fielder's choice hit by senior Adrian Marquez (Rushville, Ind./Rushville Consolidated) to extend the Saints lead to 3-1.
• UT Southern would score one run in the bottom of the third (3-2).
• Senior Baylee Hobeika (Colerain, Ohio/Colerain) would score from a bases load walk in the top of the fifth inning (4-2). Hailey McAdoo would single to centerfield to score Adrian Marquez and Lauren Taylor to make it a 6-2 game Saints. 
• In the top of the sixth inning, Lauren Taylor would single to left field to score Baylee Hobeika (7-2).
• Emma Kent singled to left field for two RBIs, sending in Hailey McAdoo and junior Kaylee Beal (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central) in the top of the seventh (8-2). Baylee Hobeika would step up to the plate for a hard hit ball to center field for a double to send in senior Elana Harrison (Mason, Ohio/Mason), senior Taylor Peterson (Wilder, Ky./Campbell County), and junior Caitlin Dawson (Georgetown, Ky./Scott) (11-2). Baylee Hobeika would score the Saints final run of the game to secure the team's 12-2 win over the Firebirds. 

Game 2: UT Southern 7-1

• UT Southern scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning (0-6).
• Elana Harrison doubled to center field to score Caitlin Dawson (1-6).
• UT Southern scored on run in the bottom of the sixth inning (1-7).

Game 1: 

• Hailey McAdoo went 3-5 with three RBIs and scored one run.
• Elana Harrison was 3-3 and scored one run.
• Baylee Hobeika went 2-5 at the plate with a double, three RBIs, and scored three runs.

Game 2:

• Caitlin Dawson went 2-4 scoring one run.
• Emma Kent was 2-4 at the plate.
• Adrian Marquez went 2-3.
• Junior Hannah Bishop (Union, Ky./Ryle) was 1-2 at the plate. 

Game 1:

• Junior pitcher Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 7.0 innings for the Saints, allowing two earned runs off eight hits, and struck out six.

Game 2:

• Sophomore Cassidy King (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) pitched 1.2 innings, allowing six earned runs off six hits.
• Hannah Bishop pitched 4.1 innings, allowing one earned run off five hits, and stuck out one. 

The Saints return to the field on Wednesday (March 16) to take on Lourdes in a double header in Sylvania, Ohio beginning at 3:00 pm.
