(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.)-#3 Thomas More University women's basketball team fell to Lindsey Wilson on Thursday evening (Feb. 24), 53-52 in the Mid-South Conference Quarterfinals. The Saints overall record falls to 26-4.
- Graduate student Alexah Chrisman (Greendale, Ind./McAuley) started things off for the Saints with a layup to put the team on the board 2-0 with 9:30 on the clock in the first quarter.
- Junior Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) made the Saints final basket of the quarter hitting one free throw with 3:53 left in the first quarter (15-4).
- The Blue Raiders tied the score up at 15-15 at the end of the first quarter.
- Junior Kenzie Schwarber (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) drove to the rim for a layup for the Saints first basket of the second quarter (17-17).
- With 7:06 on the clock, Hurst would make one free throw to score her 1,000th point of career to put the Saints of 21-19.
- Sophomore Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) would score the saints final basket of the first half with a layup with 1:12 left (29-27).
- The Saints trailed 29-33 going into the locker room.
- Senior Taylor Clos (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) started the second half off driving to the basket for a layup to put the Saints within two with 9:05 on the clock (31-33).
- Junior Summer Secrist (Hebron, Ky./Scott) made the Saints final basket of the third quarter to cut the Blue Raiders lead to 40-46.
- Brenner would hit a 3-point jump shot with 9:23 left in the game to make it a 43-46 game.
- With 3:49 on the clock, Clos would drain a 3-point jump shot for her 1,000th career point (47-49).
- Hurst made a 3-point jump shot to give the Saints the lead with 1:31 left to play in the game (52-51).
- The Saints fell 52-53 to the Blue Raiders to be eliminated from the conference tournament.
- Brenner led the Saints with 10 points and had one rebound and one assist.
- Chrisman led the team with 11 rebounds and four assists and tallied 11 points.
- Junior Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) also led the Saints with four assists and brought down seven rebounds.
- Hurst recorded nine points and one rebound.
- The Saints were 35.7% (20-56) from the field, 33.3% (6-18) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (6-9) from the free throw line.
The Saints return to the court for the Opening Round of the NAIA National Tournament March 11-12 in the Connor Convocation Center with opponent TBA.
