#2 Men's Basketball Downs #5 Indiana Wesleyan to Open the Season

(MARION, IND.)- #2 Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated #5 Indiana Wesleyan this afternoon (November 5th) by a score of 79 to 63. The Saints were led by a double double performance from redshirt junior Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky. / Campbell County).

  • Sophomore Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) got the Saints on the scoreboard with a layup at 18:38 to make it a 2-2 ball game.
  • After trailing for other 12 minutes, Reid Jolly made a layup off an assist from redshirt sophomore Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind. / Jeffersonville) to tie the game at 31-31.
  • Redshirt first year Scotty Draud (Fort Mitchell, Ky / Beechwood) and Reid Jolly gave and extended Thomas More's first lead of the game with back to back three-point shots with under 2 minutes to go in the half.
  • The Saints close out the first half with a 39 to 33 lead. The Saints had trailed by as much as 9.
  • Redshirt junior Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio / Georgetown) led the Saints in scoring with 10 points at the break.
  • The Saints shot 18-34 (52.9%) from the field in the half.
  • They out rebounded the Wildcats by a 16-9 margin.

  • Jacob Jones opens the second half with a three pointer of his own to give the Saints a 42-33 lead.
  • After the wildcats cut the Saint's lead to six points, Reid Jolly scored six straight points of his own to stretch the lead to 52-40 with 13 minutes to go.
  • The Saints went on a 13-2 scoring run and saw their lead grow to 17, following a redshirt first year Derek Eddings (Cincinnati, Ohio / La Salle) three pointer.
  • The 17 point margin was the largest lead of the game for the Saints. 
  • The Saints shot 15-28 (53.6%) from the field in the half.
  • They were a perfect eight for eight from the free throw line, after not getting to the line once in the first half.

  • Reid Jolly played 39 minutes and tallied a double-double, where he scored a team high 27 points, and a team high 12 rebounds. 
  • Noah Pack scored 14 points and led the team with 5 assists, along with 3 rebounds in his 31 minutes of action.
  • Casey George also scored 14 and saw 34 minutes of action.
  • The Saints shot 33-62 from the field for 53.2%.
  • They went a perfect 8 for 8 from the free throw line.
  • The Saints out rebounded the wildcats 25 to 22.
