(WILBERFORCE, Ohio) – The Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated the Wilberforce University Bulldogs Tuesday night in Mid-South Conference play, 74-58. They are now 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the MSC.
- Wilberforce jumped out to a 7-2 lead to begin the first half. The Saints jumped ahead though with a 10-0 run to take the 12-7 advantage. Casey George and Noah Pack both had four points to help take the lead.
- Their lead would grow to ten after five Reid Jolly points and a Derek Eddings layup made it 19-9.
- The Saints would hold a steady lead throughout the remainder of the first half, leading by as many as 11. However, a 9-4 flurry for the Bulldogs ended the half with the score at 30-24.
- Pack led the team with nine at the half while Jolly was just behind him with seven.
- The Bulldogs would continue their solid play to begin the second half, using six Cory Davis points to manufacture a 12-6 stretch that tied the game at 36-36 with 15:27 remaining.
- Jolly would take over the next few minutes of the game for the Saints, scoring six points to help Thomas More regain a nine-point advantage at 47-38.
- Wilberforce didn't go away though, pushing the lead back down to five at 51-46 with 9:17 remaining.
- However, that was as close as they would get, with the Saints taking over the rest of the game.
- A 10-0 run for Thomas More gave them a 15-point cushion at 61-46 with just over five minutes to play. Jolly had five points during this rally.
- The Saints would lead by as many as 19 down the stretch in their victory.
- Jolly had 21 points for the Saints in the second half.
- This is the 28th game in Jolly's career with 20 or more points as he finished with 28.
- Pack also had 14 points for Thomas More, while he and Wyatt Vieth led the team with five rebounds each.
- Pack also had a game-high five assists.
- The Saints shot 55.1% from the field, their fourth game this season shooting 53.2% or better.
After some time off, the Saints return home for more MSC action on December 1st against Tennessee Southern at 7:30 p.m. They beat the Firehawks in both meetings last season.
