(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University men's basketball team opened up Mid-South Conference play with a big victory over University of the Cumberlands, 86-61.
- The Saints were off to the races in this one right after the ball was tipped. Thomas More took a 21-4 lead less than 10 minutes into the contest, with 17 of those points coming from Noah Pack and Jacob Jones alone.
- The lead would continue to grow for the Saints, as they led by as many as 19 in the half, taking a 39-23 advantage into the break.
- Thomas More couldn't miss in the first half, shooting 61.3% from the field (19-31).
- Jones had 11 in the first half with Pack right behind him with 10. Noah also had six rebounds.
- The second half was more of the same for Thomas More, as Cumberlands had no answer for the Saints offense.
- The lead would grow to as many as 33 with 8:16 to play after a Derek Eddings three-pointer made it 73-40.
- Leading the Saints in the second half was Jones with 10 points, and Casey George with 10 points, as the Saints shot 58.1% in the half (18-31).
- They also began to knock down some threes, going 5-9 from downtown (55.6%).
- Overall, Thomas More shot 59.7% from the field (37-62), which is their best mark in conference play since shooting 61% at Tennessee Southern on January 27th, 2022.
- Jones led all scorers with 21, while Pack and George both scored 16.
- Pack led the team with seven rebounds while Jones led with four assists.
- The paint was a big factor in tonight's game, as Thomas More dominated the Patriots in that area, outscoring them 52-18 down low.
- This is the Saints first win over Cumberlands since March 8th, 2020.
Thomas More returns to action Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. for a showdown on the road at No. 8 Georgetown College. The Saints went 2-1 against the Tigers last season.
